Travelling in and around South Hampstead
Train
The area is in Transport for London’s Zone 2, and Finchley Road, West Hampstead, Swiss Cottage and St John’s Wood tube stations (Jubilee Line) make South Hampstead only 20 mins from the West End, or 25 mins to the City.
South Hampstead has its own mainline station, and nearby West Hampstead is also on the Thameslink service linking Bedford to Brighton via Central London. This fast, frequent service can get you to Luton Airport in around 40 minutes, Gatwick Airport in about an hour and down to the sea at Brighton in as little as an hour and a half.
The London Overground also provides easy access to Hampstead Heath and Camden Town as well as to Richmond.

Bus
South Hampstead is also well serviced by bus routes linking local areas to the West End.
Bicycle
Numerous cycle routes link the area to the centre of London; Charing Cross can be reached in under 30 minutes, and St Pauls in around 35. Transport for London will post you free maps of cycle routes, available through the London Cycle Campaign website. Camden Cycling Campaign has some 600 members, making it one if the largest and most active Borough Groups of the LCC.
